The showjumper Nayel Nassar was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1991, and competes internationally for Egypt. He was raised in Kuwait by Egyptian parents, and first sat on a horse at a local riding school when he was five. His passion for equestrian sport continued to grow, until he won his first FEI Grand Prix in 2011 aboard his stallion Vangelis S. Nayel went on to represent his country at the FEI World Cup Finals in 2013, 2014 and 2017 and the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2014, picking up several Grand Prix victories along the way. Most notably, Nayel is a three-time winner of the HITS Million and is the only rider to ever win the Speed Challenge and Grand Prix at the same Longines Masters event.
