Amid afternoon shadows in the Grand Prix arena at Desert International Horse Park, Wathelet and the 13-year-old mare were 0.33 seconds faster than Mexico's Arturo Parada and Bordeaux.

    U.S. rider Karl Cook piloted Kalinka Van't Zorgvliet to the fastest double-clear jump-off round at the Desert International Horse Park in Thermal, California. Cook and the 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare edged out fellow American Charlotte Jacobs and Rincoola Milsean by 0.22 seconds. Daniel Bluman of Israel and Rebelline de Kwakenbeek came in third, just 0.04 seconds behind Jacobs.
