Sharn Wordley Wins the $24,000 Welcome Prix at WEC Ocala

In a field of 23, Sharn Wordley, aboard the 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding Hagelin, emerged the winner of the first Welcome Prix of the winter circuit season at WEC Ocala on Thursday.

William Simpson rode his own Chacco Blue Star to a second-place finish in the 1.45m class.

The format was Table II.2b in class of international riders during week one of the Winter Spectacular.

Tracy Fenney with the 15-year-old Danish Warmblood mare MTM Apple were the first to go in the order and first to qualify for the jump-off. They finished third.

Taylor Land and Caballero advanced to the jump-off and exited the arena with one time fault, finishing 8th.

Wordley had two other rides in the class, and finished 11th with Brin D'or de Haute Melen Z.

SImpson had one other entry. Fenney and Jobin each had two other mounts in the class.
