As part of “Brazil’s first family of dressage” Rodolpho Riskalla is practically equestrian royalty. After winning silver in the individual championship test grade IV at the 2020 Summer Paralympics Riskalla earned his rank as #1 Grade IV Para Rider. Riskallas took up Para dressage in January 2016 after having contracted bacterial meningitis in 2015. As a result of his illness his feet, his right hand and some fingers from the left hand had to be amputated. This however didn’t stop Riskalla. The 2016 Summer Paralympics would be taking place in his home country, Brazil, and Riskalla was determined to take part in the Games! His adaptability and perseverance was rewarded by earning the Federation Equestre Internationale’s (FEI) “Against all Odds Award” in 2016. His ambitious character shows in his one big goal: to compete in both Para Dressage and Dressage.
