Laura Kraut, who competed in her first World Cup Final 33 years ago, rode Tres Bien Z to victory in the $340,000 Washington International Horse Show event that could lead to the annual championship scheduled for Fort Worth, Texas, next April. Click HERE to find out more about Tres Bien Z.

Laura, a four-time Olympian for the USA, claimed the President’s Cup for the second time before a sold-out crowd on the 10-year-old gelding.

The duo was fault-free in both CSI5* 1.60-meter rounds and the fastest clear on 40.83 secs. in the jump-off of eight combinations.

Daniel Coyle of Ireland on Incredible was runner-up on 41.14 secs. to earn enough points to give him a total of 27 and put him atop the North American standings. Great Britain’s Ben Maher on Faltic HB, his 2022 World Championship team bronze medal mount, placed third on 42.25.

With less than three weeks to her 60th birthday, Laura joined fellow American and world No. 1 Kent Farrington in second on the North American World Cup standings with the Final in her homeland, as it was her first World Cup on Simba Run, at Del Mar, California in 1992, the first of Laura’s nine World Cup final performances.

Laura took over the ride on Tres Bien from Britain’s Tim Gredley. Her first show was at Florida’s Wellington International in the winter of 2024. Since then, the pair has competed extensively throughout Europe and North America. Their only previous victory was in Wellington’s Nations Cup in March, followed by Nations Cups in Dublin in August and Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada, last month.

The entire competition can, of course, be watched at any time HERE in our archive.
