Vanessa Hood Takes Top Two Spots in 5* Class at Longines Jumping World Cup™ Ocala

Israel's Vanessa Hood took first and second places in the first 5* class of the week on Wednesday during the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ - North American League (NAL) - Ocala.

Hood won the $1,000 CSI5*-W Two Phase aboard the 11-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding K&T Geromino at the World Equestrian Center, outpacing herself by nearly 2.5 seconds, as she was also runner-up with her first mount in the 1.40-meter class - Clitschko 17, a 13-year-old Hanoverian.

Mexico's Carlos Hank Guerreiro and H5 Chilipepper Z, a 10-year-old Zangersheide gelding, rounded out the top three.

Top Six Results

1 Vanessa Hood (Israel) - K&T GEROMINO - 0/33.95

2 Vanessa Hood (Israel) - CLITSCHKO 17 - 0/36.35

3 Carlos Hank Guerreiro (Mexico) - H5 CHILIPEPPER Z - 0/37.38

4 Tom Wachman (Ireland) - PEGASUS - 0/38.47

5 Katherine Dinan (USA) - OUT OF THE BLUE SCF - 0/38.75

6 Jamie Winning-Kermond (Australia) - TULARA WAT COBLENSKY - 0/39.17

Guerreiro also placed eighth with H5 Origi Horta, and Dinan placed 11th with Cordani PS.

Of the 42 competitors, 11 chose to retire after riding double clear in the first phase. Eleven of the 16 riders who finished the second phase were double clear in both phases. Some riders use classes early in the week as warm-ups, electing to "save" their horses for bigger classes (both in terms of height and money) later in the week.

The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League (NAL) in Ocala is the last leg before the finals in April, in Fort Worth, Texas.
