Hunter Derby Concludes with Exciting Performances in Ocala
Local riders shine in the $5,000 USHJA National 3’ Open and Jr/Am Hunter Derbies

The second Hunter Derby of the 2025 Spring Series featured the $5,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby and the $5,000 USHJA National 3’ Jr/Am Hunter Derby on Friday.
Course designer Dean Rheinheimer created two engaging tracks for 34 horse-and-rider combinations in Hunter 1, including various technical jumps. In the Open Derby, Camille Maynard secured victory with Anne Hormel’s eight-year-old Holsteiner gelding, Dutton, scoring a total of 179 after two successful rounds. Maynard shared her delight in Dutton's progress. She noted the challenges of the course but praised its design for allowing a smooth flow.
In the Junior/Amateur Derby, Anna Tyler and Don Stewart’s Your Welcome BC triumphed with a total score of 176, showcasing strong performances across both rounds. Tyler expressed her appreciation for her new partnership with the seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood, highlighting their enjoyable experience in the competition.
