Jumping Mechelen, Daniel Deusser and the outlook for this week
January 7, 2026 at 1:49 AMBy s.wilhelm

Every Tuesday evening, Frederik de Backer invites you to take a look back at international show jumping in the news magazine THE HORSE SHOW. With the start of the new year, THE HORSE SHOW also starts anew: Season 2 is coming up and, like last year, he and his guests will cover the latest topics: Jumping Mechelen, the World Cup jump-off, and Daniel Deusser talking about his tactics. Every Tuesday and Wednesday, free of charge on our 24/7 channel, and then available any time in our media library.
Jumping Mechelen - the end of the year 2025
The traditional Belgian tournament in Mechelen also provided an electrifying atmosphere at the end of 2025. Together with studio guests Jonna Ekberg and Joe Clee, Frederik de Backer analyzes the highlights of the last week of the past year, from the Swedish dominance in the Grand Prix to the special challenges of the World Cup course - especially the treacherous plank that decimated potentially clear rounds.
Tactics in the World Cup jump-off and interview with Daniel Deusser
A jump-off that raises questions: Was it the right decision to play it safe or to take a full risk? The experts take a close look at the rides of Gilles Thomas and the competition. An interesting highlight is Daniel Deusser's personal assessment. In the interview, he explains why he relied on his instincts rather than tactics, why this led to a mistake, and what he would have done differently in hindsight.
Don't miss it! Tune in live at 8:30 p.m. or watch it anytime afterwards in our media library.
