Vanessa Mannix Wins the $32,000 CSI3* Welcome Prix in the Desert

Ali Ramsay Places Second and Fourth

Canadian riders were the winner and runner-up in the $32000 BrainJuice Active CSI3* Welcome Prix at Desert International Horse Park in Thermal, California. Vanessa Mannix and the 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Lehar crossed the timers to take top honors.

Ali Ramsay and her 13-year-old Zangersheide gelding Conrado 12 stopped the clock to earn second place. Ramsay also took fourth place with the 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare Maaike Paola.

Emily Esau Williams and Cascarado were third in the 1.45-meter class. They finished in second place in last week's $75,000 Grand Prix.

In the field of 37, 14 qualified for the jump-off, where seven were double clear. Two of the jump-off qualifiers withdrew after the first round.

4 Ali Ramsay (Canada) - MAAIKE PAOLA - 0/41.17

5 Michelle Berry (USA) - COCONUT - 0/42.07

6 Alexandra Biederman (USA) - NICKY VAN DE START - 0/43.43

Biederman also finished 7th with Cornet's Cookie, exactly one second behind her sixth-place mount.

Karrie Rufer was the fastest four-faulter in the jump-off (4/37.19), finishing in eighth place, with a time more than 1.5 seconds faster than the winner.
