Skylar Wireman Takes the Open Classic Victory in the Desert

California native Skylar Wireman and the 12-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding Tornado won the $30,000 FarmVet Open Classic during week 2 of the Desert Circuit at Desert International Horse Park in Thermal, California.

“We’re preparing this week before he’ll jump the CSI5* grand prix again next week,” said Wireman. “I wanted to give him a nice, easy week to let him just jump around and feel like he’s the king of the world.”

Rounding out the top three

Kyle King and Replay Touch Van de Stapelheyde, a 9-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, finished second.

Michelle Parker and the 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Easy Does It were third.

Ten horse-and-rider combinations advanced to the jump-off, and five jumped double clear.
