Vagabond de la Pomme, who was highly successful both in sport and as a sire, is no longer alive. According to the Haras de Clarbec stud farm, the stallion sadly passed away on October 29 at the age of 20. With Pénélope Leprévost, Vagabond de la Pomme was an integral part of the French equestrian team for many years and also shaped modern show jumping horse breeding through his offspring.
Sporting career at the highest level
Bred Vigo d'Arsouilles - son of Geer Baertsoen from Belgium. With Sauterelle de la Pomme (For Pleasure x Darco) as his dam, the stallion thus carried the blood of the Narcotique de Muze II butter line.
At the age of seven, Vagabond de la Pomme became the property of Haras de Clarbec Stud, where his international sporting career also began under Pénélope Leprévost.
The second place in the 2015 World Cup Final in Las Vegas is certainly one of the stallion's most outstanding successes. He also took part in the World Equestrian Games in Caen and achieved numerous top placings.
Influential breeding career
After the end of his sporting career, Vagabond de la Pomme finally made a major impact on modern show jumper breeding. To date, he has produced 33 licensed sons, 19 of whom are successful at international level over 1.60 m.
His best-known offspring include Exception, Jackson de Regor and J'adore van het Schaeck.
The Haras de Clarbec stud wrote on Instagram: "He made us dream, and today we think back to all the beautiful moments we were able to experience with him.
Thanks to [...] a horse with a golden character, exceptional kindness and great courage will be left behind. His story will continue to be written by his offspring, who will shine on the show grounds worldwide. Farewell, champion!"
