Colin Syquia and Front Page didn’t just win the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at the Devon Horse Show—they owned it.
After years of developing a deep partnership, Syquia and the 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding (Vigo D’Arsouilles—Cartagena Indias Ecaussinnes) delivered a commanding performance that turned strategy into domination, posting a massive score of 381 to clinch the prestigious derby title. It was a victory built on precision, patience, and perfect timing.
Their standout handy round—highlighted by bold choices and textbook execution—earned a round-topping 201, propelling them past derby legend Hunt Tosh and the always-formidable Cannon Creek. Tosh, who came into the handy sitting in third, moved up to second after a smooth trip but couldn't catch Syquia’s lead.
Finishing third was Jeffery “Britt” Leon aboard Prime Time, a newer partner owned by amateur Mark Dorfman. Despite their short history together, the stallion rose to the occasion. Britt-Leon took a conservative approach, skipping a tight rollback with Prime Time that he had taken with his other mount, True Cassini, but still landed firmly in the top three.
For Syquia, this win at Devon marked a new pinnacle in a storied career—and a long-awaited headline moment for a horse he’s believed in from the start.
