Cue the “Star-Spangled Banner”—Team USA has done it again. For the seventh time in the storied history of the Mercedes-Benz Nations’ Cup at CHIO Aachen, the red, white, and blue stood atop the podium, victorious in the legendary Soers. With a razor-sharp total of just 4 faults, the Americans left nothing to chance, edging out Belgium (8 faults) and Great Britain (10 faults) in a nail-biting showdown of equestrian excellence.
A Statement Win
From the start, the U.S. riders rode like they meant business. The team—anchored by Chef d’Equipe Robert Ridland—came in focused and delivered when it mattered most. While other nations faltered in the second round, the U.S. showed consistency, composure, and sheer firepower.
Germany, strong out of the gate, had all options open heading into the second round. But things quickly unraveled for Otto Becker’s squad, ultimately pushing them into fourth place with 15 faults despite a double-clear performance from Jana Wargers and Dorette.
Lillie Keenan: The Star of the Show
The standout performance of the night came from Lillie Keenan, who delivered double-clear rounds aboard her brilliant 15-year-old Argan de Beliard, a son of Mylord Carthago. As the team’s lead-off rider, Keenan set the tone with two flawless trips, giving Team USA the perfect start in both rounds. At just 28 years old, Keenan continues to prove herself as one of the most reliable anchors in the sport.
Team Breakdown – U.S. Scores:
- Lillie Keenan & Argan de Beliard – 0 / 0
- Kent Farrington & Toulayna – 0 / 4
- Laura Kraut & Bisquetta – 4 / 0
- McLain Ward & Imerial HBF – 4 / 0
Each rider contributed exactly what was needed, proving the depth and talent of this U.S. squad. The win wasn’t just about clean rounds—it was about strategy, trust, and rising to the moment on one of the biggest stages in the sport.
Eyes on the Prize
With this Nations’ Cup victory, Team USA has firmly established themselves as a dominant force heading into the final days of CHIO Aachen 2025. It’s a win that not only adds another chapter to America’s Aachen legacy but also sends a clear message to the world: Team USA is here to win—again and again.
