USHJA introduces new quiz competition for college riders

The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association has announced the debut of the IHSA Team Challenge, an educational competition for collegiate Hunt Seat and Western riders. Running from April 1 to May 1, the challenge invites Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) members to test their horsemanship knowledge through an online quiz for a chance to win team prizes.

Developed in partnership with the IHSA, the program is free and encourages participation and learning. Each team must have at least three students complete the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Practice Quiz to be eligible. Bonus points are awarded to students who also pass Levels One and Two of the official HQC quizzes.

The top three scores per team will be averaged, and the highest-scoring team will be recognized at the 2025 IHSA Nationals, held May 2–4 at Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina. Ribbons through tenth place will also be awarded.

Students can take the quiz multiple times to boost their score. Those who advance through the official HQC may also qualify for the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals, in person or virtually.

Registration is open to USHJA members through September 1. More information is available at ushja.org/IHSAchallenge.
