Olympic champion Ben Maher capped off his 2025 Wellington season with a commanding win in the $120,000 Bainbridge Companies CSI3* Grand Prix aboard Ginger-Blue. The 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare (Plot Blue x Royal Bravour), owned by Jane Forbes Clark, stopped the clock in 37.33 seconds to secure the win from an 11-horse jump-off.
The British rider, who has been competing with a fractured foot, praised Ginger-Blue’s confidence on the grass and credited her ground speed for the edge over Lacey Gilbertson (USA) and Chris Pratt (CAN), who finished second and third respectively.
Both horse and rider will now take a break before heading to Europe. The win follows Maher’s speed victory aboard Exit Remo just a day earlier.
The Wellington International Spring Series, presented by Florida Coast Equipment, continues through May 11.
