Ben Maher Caps Wellington Campaign with Ginger‑Blue

British Olympic champion Ben Maher closed out his 2025 Wellington season in style, pairing Saturday’s speed win with Exit Remo with a decisive triumph aboard Ginger‑Blue in Sunday’s $120,000 Bainbridge Companies CSI3* Grand Prix. The back‑to‑back victories on Wellington International’s sweeping grass derby field punctuated Week 2 of the Spring Series, presented by Florida Coast Equipment, and underscored Maher’s dominance under Florida’s spring sun.

Ginger‑Blue, a 14‑year‑old Dutch Warmblood mare by Plot Blue out of Royal Bravour and owned by longtime supporter Jane Forbes Clark, once again showcased her affinity for the expansive turf. Eleven combinations advanced to Ana Catalina “Catsy” Cruz’s jump‑off, but Maher and his seasoned partner found another gear, blazing through the timers in 37.33 seconds. Their performance snatched the lead from U.S. contender Lacey Gilbertson, who had posted a strong 37.77 seconds with the ten‑year‑old mare Loulou MPSZ. Canada’s Chris Pratt and Ideaal ES rounded out the podium in 38.42 seconds.

Sunday’s victory marks Ginger‑Blue’s second three‑star triumph on Wellington’s grass this year, having claimed a WEF Week 6 win in February. Maher, currently world No. 4, credited the mare’s consistency and Clark’s steadfast support for their continued success. With two CSI3* fixtures still to come before the Spring Series concludes on May 11th, Maher heads into a short rest period with a flourish—and leaves the field chasing his turf‑toppling form.
