Last weekend, a significant contribution was made by American equestrian Laura Kraut to her team's victory in the Longines League of Nations™️ in Ocala.
For years, she has represented the United States in Rotterdam, where she spends a large part of the year living. At 60 years old, she has an impressive athletic resume, including competing in the Olympic Summer Games three times, earning a gold medal in 2008 and a silver medal in 2021. She also secured a silver medal at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, in 2006.
The rider, who now makes her home in the Netherlands, explained the motivation behind their move. "We had a beautiful place in Great Britain, but due to Brexit, things became complicated and expensive, so we chose the Netherlands. I love the horse-oriented lifestyle here," she said. Her new residence is conveniently located just fifteen minutes from close friends, the Hendrix family.
Despite her busy schedule, which includes competing nearly every weekend, she balances her duties as a mother and grandmother. "My son is 25, and I have two grandchildren aged two years and six months. I also try to explore new cities when I can," she mentioned, reflecting on her experiences in Rotterdam.
Looking forward, she expressed her aspirations, stating that winning the Olympic team gold in Hong Kong remains a career highlight, but she hopes to achieve more victories in Grand Prix events, particularly in Rotterdam. She also shared her appreciation for Ocala's facilities and expressed optimism about the future of the Longines League of Nations™️ in the location.
