Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour considers emigration due to possible curb ban in Denmark
Denmark's top dressage rider sees international career in danger

If Denmark enforces a ban on the use of curb bits, Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour could be banned from international competitions. The background to this is that the Danish government is currently examining legislation that could ban riding with a curb bit - a measure that could have massive consequences for the Danish dressage rider and current world number 1 and many other professionals.
Dufour explained to the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet that such a ban would be a major problem for the Danish dressage sport. At the same time, she emphasized that it is a question of correct use and that the curb bit in itself is not a problem as long as it is used correctly.
In view of the possible legal changes, she had already spoken to her wife Rasmine about moving abroad. “Of course we've talked about it. It's unavoidable,” she told Ekstra Bladet. Nevertheless, she emphasized how important it is for her to continue to represent Denmark internationally.
The Danish government's final decision on the possible ban is expected shortly. If it does come to pass, it could have far-reaching consequences for the Danish dressage sport.
