Samantha Schaefer delivered a polished and commanding performance in the $15,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby, guiding Stateside to a memorable win after two strong rounds of competition.

Strong Opening Round Sets the Stage

The soon nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding laid a solid foundation in the first round, producing a smooth trip that earned a score of 88. Schaefer’s precise riding kept them firmly in contention and positioned the pair well for the pressure-filled handy round.

Standout Handy Round Seals the Win

Returning to the ring for the handy round, Schaefer elevated her performance, confidently navigating the more technical track while maintaining polish and style. Their thoughtful track and consistent jump earned an impressive 98, bringing their two-round total to 186 and securing the victory over a competitive open field.

The win showcased both Schaefer’s skill and Stateside’s continued development, marking a standout moment in one of the week’s featured hunter classes and signaling a bright future for this rising partnership.
