The final Hunter Derby Friday of the 2025 Winter Spectacular Show Series occurred under clear skies at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, attracting over 100 top hunter combinations for an afternoon of competition. Course designer Kevin Holowack presented riders with various challenges, including sweeping tracks and technical inside options that tested their skills. In the $75,000 Golden Ocala 3’6”-3’9” Hunter Derby, Daniel Geitner and the 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding Walk The Moon, owned by Lynn Seithel, delivered an outstanding performance to secure the victory.
Geitner set the early pace with a first-round score of 186.5. He returned last in the handy round, tackling the course after having piloted two other mounts. Opting for daring inside tracks, Geitner achieved a handy score of 192, leading to a combined total of 378.5 and the win. This victory marked a successful end to the winter campaign, reinforcing Geitner and Walk The Moon’s reputation as a powerful pair in the hunter division.
