Sanne Melsen receives Cavalor FEI Best Groom Award 2025

Belgian Sanne Melsen was presented with the Cavalor FEI Best Groom Award at the FEI Awards 2025. The award recognizes exceptional achievements of grooms who make a decisive contribution to the sporting success and well-being of horses in the background. As a groom, Melsen is part of the team of Belgian show jumper Gilles Thomas.

Dedication and precision as the basis for success

Sanne Melsen impressed the jury with her calm and professional approach, her keen eye for detail and her deep empathy towards the horses entrusted to her care. Qualities such as these contribute significantly to the horses' ability to perform at their best, both physically and mentally. As the FEI stated in its press release, Melsen is perceived as a respected personality whose commitment and leadership style behind the scenes are given special consideration. The award was presented by the CEO of Pegasus Holding, Lieselot Hamerlinck.

An accidental start

Melsen found her way into the profession by chance: shortly after deciding to devote herself fully to equestrian sport, she received an offer from Gilles Thomas' team. This developed into a long-term collaboration, which is associated with numerous sporting successes, including national titles and podium finishes at international tournaments such as Shanghai.
