Samantha Schaefer Claims Double Victory in Hunter Derby
Rider secures top positions with impressive performances

On Friday morning, 31 horse-and-rider combinations participated in the $75,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby under sunny skies at the World Equestrian Center - Ocala. Many competitors had previously achieved notable success in the series, demonstrating their skills on the course. Samantha Schaefer stood out by achieving top twelve finishes with three entries, ultimately winning first and second place with Deer Creek Farm LLC’s MTM Knock Out and Ava Berman’s All Inklusive.
In the initial round, Schaefer guided MTM Knock Out to a score of 189, securing the lead with the 10-year-old Warmblood gelding. In the subsequent handy round, she also rode Mary Landin’s Iggy Pop and All Inklusive, allowing her to familiarize herself with the course. Schaefer and Knock Out received a score of 184.5 in this round. Their combined total of 373.5 points solidified their victory in the competition.
With fierce competition and flawless rides, the $75,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby delivered an unforgettable showcase of talent, strategy, and sheer horsemanship.
