Today in the desert, Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ) begins with the $32,000 1.45m FEI 2* Speed by Alora Sporthorses class. There are 52 entries, including the second-place finisher in last week's $32,000 1.45m FEI 2* Speed by Brainjuice - Erynn Ballard with the Oldenburg stallion Chatadel PS, who turns 9 in January.
FEI5* Qualifier is second of two classes
Eyes will then be focused on the class to watch today - the $182,000 1.55m FEI5* Qualifier by Great American Insurance. Among the 42 riders entered, last week's winner, McLain Ward of the U.S., will ride a different horse in the class today. Ward won last week with First Lady; today, he rides Jordan Molga M, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding. France's Nina Mallevaey returns with the 12-year-old Selle Francais mare Dynastie de Beaufour, having placed second in this class last week - the first week of MLSJ at Desert International Horse Park. Conor Swail of Ireland also returns, with Clonterm Obolensky, having finished third last week.
