Michael Jung Powers His Way to a Win in Geneva

Highest Finish in the 1.45m Two-Phase Class for a U.S. Rider is Sixth

Coming later in the order of go, Germany's Michael Jung and Fischer Duopower delivered a crowd-pleasing round and a decisive win in the Prix Swiss Wine Genève CSI5* - 1.45m - Two Phases. Jung and the14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding finished with a time of 0/25.98. Another German rider - Hans-Dieter Dreher - one of the last few riders on course, slipped into second with the 13-year-old Holsteiner gelding Cous Cous 3.

Ireland's Cian O'Connor was third with Canbella Blue PS, an 11-year-old Hanoverian mare.

U.S. Rider Karl Cook Finishes in the Top 10

Karl Cook took sixth place aboard the 10-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare Candy (who turns 11 in January), just 0.05 seconds behind fifth place. French riders took fourth- and fifth-place ribbons and prize money: Simon Delestre finished fourth with Gatsby du Tillard, a 9-year-old Selle Francais stallion, while Olivier Perreau came in fifth with Himalaya du Temple, an 8-year-old Selle Francais mare. American Kent Farrington finished in the top 20, riding the 11-year-old Oldenburg mare Greya to 19th place (0/33.07).

The awards ceremony included the top six riders/horses.

Of the 46 riders initially entered, several elected to use the class as a warmup round, allowing themselves and their horses a slower pace, or to jump a few fences and grow accustomed to the indoor arena and its atmosphere. Today (Thursday) marks the first day of CSI5* show jumping, and the Prix Swiss Wine Genève was the second show jumping class of the day of the CHI de Genève - Grand Slam of Showjumping & FEI Driving World Cup™.
