The hunter spotlight at HITS Championship Week reached its pinnacle on Sunday with the second annual $200,000 ClipMyHorse.TV Hunter Classic. Drawing top professionals and a packed crowd around The Ring at HITS Hudson Valley, the class marked the grand finale of a season filled with world-class hunter and jumper sport. When the final scores were tallied, it was Havens Schatt aboard Chaquisto Blue PS who emerged victorious with a commanding performance.

Fifteen qualified combinations contested a single round over Doug Russell’s (Ocala, FL) elegant course, which emphasized brilliance, pace, and style. Three judging panels — Richard Slocum with Rob Bielefeld, Tucker Ericson with Don Stewart, and Robert Crandall with Susie Schoellkopf — evaluated each round, with scores combined for the overall result.

First to go, Schatt and the eight-year-old Warmblood gelding (Chacoon Blue x Cornet’s Balou) immediately set the bar high, earning marks of 90, 91, and 88 for a total of 269. Their polished trip would prove uncatchable as the class unfolded.

Victoria Colvin piloted Gabriel, a seasoned 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Azteca VDL x Burggraaf), into the runner-up position with a combined score of 266.50. Rounding out the podium, last year’s winner Four Aces, a 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding by Acodetto 2, claimed third place on a score of 263 under David Wilbur.
