Alise Oken from the United States finished her Winter Equestrian Festival campaign positively by leading the nine-year-old mare Lady Lex to victory in the $62,500 Vogel CSI2* Grand Prix. This event took place on the last Sunday of WEF 12, where Oken displayed her skill by surpassing a competitive field to secure the top prize. The course created by Brazilian designer Guilherme Jorge proved to be challenging, resulting in nineteen clear rounds during the first stage, which set the stage for a fast jump-off.
Oken managed to complete her round in 36.32 seconds, beating the established time and securing first place, while Niamh McEvoy from Ireland and her horse Sevilla van de Berghoeve Z finished in second. Simon McCarthy, also from Ireland, preceded them in third place with Gotcha, owned by Rock Ridge Farms. Oken expressed her immediate connection with Lady Lex, who is owned by Hi Hopes Farm, LLC.
Their shared potential and strong partnership in the arena leave Oken optimistic about future events. Looking forward, she intends to maintain her training under Markus Beerbaum, with plans to build on the success achieved during WEF.
