Liza Boyd achieved victory in the $150,000 USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular, riding Ondine D'Orleans to an overall average score of 91.25.
Boyd last won this event in 2010 with Brunello. In the recent competition, she outperformed second-place finishers Paradigm and Victoria Colvin, who scored an average of 90.50. Boyd expressed her joy, noting the significance of each win in her career. The competition featured 36 combinations tackling a course designed by Megan Rawlins, with points scored by a panel of judges. Boyd and Ondine D'Orleans, owned by Finally Farm and Neill Sites, finished second in the First Round with a score of 91.33.
The final scores positioned all top three finishers, including Boyd, as previous winners of the Palm Beach Spectacular. Boyd praised Ondine, highlighting her familiarity with the venue and the support of those who trained the mare. For the win, Boyd and Ondine took home $45,000 in prize money and various awards, including the Dark Continent Perpetual Trophy. The WCHR program also honored several other participants, showcasing their achievements and contributions to the hunter sport.
The annual USHJA WCHR Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular Gala supported initiatives benefiting equine disaster relief efforts. Two more WCHR Spectaculars are scheduled across the U.S. in 2025.
