Hunter riders took center stage in the WEC Stadium as Week I of the 2025 December Series kicked off with a full slate of derby action. More than fifty pairs contested the three featured classes: the $12,500 Golden Ocala 3’6”-3’9” Hunter Derby, the $10,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby, and the $10,000 USHJA National 3’ Jr/Am Hunter Derby. Ken Krome’s inviting but thoughtfully technical tracks rewarded rhythm, rideability, and style across all divisions.
Core & Karakter Shine in the Featured Derby
The highlight of the afternoon—the $12,500 Golden Ocala 3’6”-3’9” Hunter Derby—belonged to Kalli Core and Karakter, the nine-year-old KWPN gelding owned by Donna Rosman. The pair set themselves apart early, delivering a smooth, flowing first round that earned an 88 from the judging panel.
Securing the Win with a Total of 175
Karakter returned for the second round with the same confidence and expression, and Core guided him to an equally polished trip that scored an 87, bringing their total to 175 and cementing the win. The victory marks an exciting milestone for the partnership as they continue to gain momentum this season.
