Molly McAdow and Platinum Capture $15,000 CWD USHJA National Open Hunter Derby

A talented field of hunter riders gathered Friday evening in the Standlee Sanctuary at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington for World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) week during Winter Classic 5. Nineteen horse-and-rider combinations contested the $15,000 CWD USHJA National Open Hunter Derby, with multiple entries posting scores in the 90s.

Molly McAdow and her own Platinum (Cornet Obolensky x Pretty Woman) emerged victorious, maintaining the lead throughout the competition. The 11-year-old gelding, a consistent performer throughout the season, impressed judges with his near-perfect jumping style. McAdow and Platinum set the pace with a first-round score of 92, taking an early advantage on the leaderboard.

Returning as the final entry for the handy round, McAdow produced another confident performance, earning a score of 89.5. Their two-round total of 181.5 secured the win, highlighting the duo’s precision, consistency, and strong partnership.

McAdow’s success in the Open Hunter Derby at WEC Wilmington underscores her skill in top-level hunter competition and Platinum’s continued excellence in the derby ring.
