A competitive field of 25 horse-and-rider combinations faced off Saturday evening at the $60,000 Standlee Grand Prix during Fall Classic 3 at the World Equestrian Center – Wilmington. The FEI Level IV course, designed by Guilherme Jorge, tested precision, speed, and strategy, sending eight pairs into the jump-off.
Early in the jump-off, Rowan Willis and Cape Town, a 10-year-old Warmblood gelding, set a fast pace with a clear round in 40.924 seconds. Their time held the lead until later rounds.
Kady Abrahamson, riding Nicole Carter’s Rhumba JW-Van De Moerhoeve, an 8-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, delivered a flawless second clear round. Crossing the timers at 39.637 seconds, Abrahamson not only topped Willis but also captured her first career Grand Prix victory.
Rounding out the podium, Loic Cannaert piloted Vivianne Blue PS, a 12-year-old Oldenburg mare to a strong third-place finish in 40.924 seconds.
Abrahamson and Rhumba JW-Van De Moerhoeve showcased speed, precision, and composure under pressure, marking a memorable milestone in both rider and mare’s career.
