The final Hunter Derby Friday of 2025 drew more than 60 horse-and-rider combinations to World Equestrian Center – Ocala (WEC) to contest the venue’s three signature derbies: the $12,500 Golden Ocala 3’6”–3’9” Hunter Derby, the $10,000 UF Veterinary Hospital USHJA National 3’ Open Hunter Derby, and the $10,000 USHJA National 3’ Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby. Designed by Tommy Brawley, the flowing courses featured an array of natural obstacles that rewarded style, rhythm, and rideability.
In the $12,500 Golden Ocala 3’6”–3’9” Hunter Derby, Katherine Addington rose to the top with a polished performance aboard her own No Doubt Van Het Vlierhof. The pair, known in the barn as “Derek,” set the tone early with a standout first-round score of 92.
Returning for the handy round in the lead, Addington capitalized on her position, opting for all available inside turns while maintaining a forward, confident ride. The strategy paid off, earning an 87 in the second round for a two-round total of 179 and securing the victory.
