The HITS Del Mar Summer Classic II wrapped up on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with an electrifying finish as Karl Cook and his Olympic silver medal partner, Caracole de la Roque, captured the $90,000 CSI2* Grand Prix of Del Mar. Set on the scenic Grand Prix Grass Field in California, the event brought a thrilling close to a season of elite competition.
Challenging Course and Strong Field
FEI Level 3 course designer Marina Azevedo (BRA) built a demanding track that tested 31 competitors. Canada’s Ali Ramsay, 2022 Canadian Show Jumping Champion, set an early standard with a clear aboard Conrado 12. Joining the jump-off were nine riders, including Ramsay’s second mount Bonita vh Keizershof Z, U.S. Olympic medalist Lucy Davis Kennedy on Ben 431, and James Chawke (IRL) on Daido van’t Ruytershof Z.
Bold Ride Secures the Win
Ramsay initially posted a 41.25-second double-clear, but Chawke edged ahead with 39.59 seconds. Cook, cheered on by the home crowd, delivered a flawless round aboard Caracole de la Roque, stopping the clock in 38.32 seconds to claim victory. Chawke finished second, while Ramsay secured both third and fourth aboard her two mounts.
