The atmosphere inside the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre electrified on Friday as the world’s top athletes went head-to-head in the CSI5*-W Caixabank Trophy, a featured event of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2025–2026 Western European League. In a class defined by razor-sharp turns and blistering pace, it was Sweden’s Henrik von Eckermann who sealed a commanding victory aboard the ever-fast Glamour Girl, stopping the clock in an unbeatable 64.34 seconds.
Von Eckermann and the 14-year-old KWPN mare have built a reputation as one of the sport’s most reliable speed pairs, and they delivered yet again in A Coruña. Their quick, accurate track left no room for the rest of the field to catch them, setting a standard that held from start to finish.
Spain delivered a strong performance on home soil as Armando Trapote piloted Tornado VS into second place with a bold, forward ride that brought the crowd to life. Their time of 66.85 seconds secured the runner-up spot and continued Trapote’s consistent form throughout the indoor season.
The final spot on the podium went to Great Britain’s Matthew Sampson, who guided Latte Macchiato to a smooth, efficient round in 67.11 seconds. Sampson, known for his sharp instincts in speed classes, demonstrated impressive precision to secure third in a tightly packed leaderboard.
The Caixabank Trophy once again showcased the spectacular sport and elite horsepower that define the A Coruña stop on the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ circuit. With momentum building toward Sunday’s World Cup Qualifier, riders are sharpening their form and eyeing critical points in the Western European League standings.
As the week continues at Casas Novas, all eyes turn toward the pinnacle event — but tonight, the spotlight belongs to Henrik von Eckermann and Glamour Girl, who proved once more why they remain one of show jumping’s most formidable partnerships.
