Late draw and polished performances secure top honors at WEC – Wilmington

Lauren Underhill delivered a standout performance at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington during the Christmas in the Midwest competition, guiding Emily Sweeney’s Innamorato to victory in the $15,000 Relyne by Hagyard USHJA National Hunt-N-Go Derby in the R+L Arena.

Late-Order Advantage Pays Off

Returning late in the order, Underhill and the eight-year-old gelding rose to the occasion over the combined classic and handy format. The pair displayed poise and confidence throughout the course, blending quality and efficiency to leave a lasting impression on the judging panel.

Polished Classic Round

In the classic portion, Innamorato showcased a consistent rhythm and stylish jump, earning a strong score of 89. Underhill’s quiet ride allowed the gelding’s natural expression to shine, setting a solid foundation for the handy phase.

Strategic Handy Execution

Underhill capitalized on the handy options, navigating the course with thoughtful precision and smooth execution. Their handy score of 87, combined with four high-option bonuses, pushed their total to a winning score of 180.

A Winning Finish at WEC – Wilmington

The performance highlighted Innamorato’s versatility and Underhill’s ability to maximize both expression and strategy in the Hunt-N-Go format. Against a competitive field, their polished effort set the standard and capped off a successful day of hunter competition at WEC – Wilmington.
