Charlie Jones and Capitale 6 Seize Career-Defining CSI4* Grand Prix Victory

Thunderbird Show Park

Charlie Jones (GBR) made a massive statement on the final day of the Canadian Premier at Thunderbird Show Park, scoring the biggest win of his career in the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix. The 26-year-old British rider and his mount Capitale 6 rose to the top of a star-studded jump-off, outpacing seasoned champions to take a resounding victory.

Riding for Morning Star Sporthorses, Jones and the 12-year-old gelding affectionately known as “Pete” were the second-to-last to go in a six-horse jump-off. Ireland’s Conor Swail had just laid down a quick, clear round aboard Theo 160 in 38.95 seconds, forcing Jones to take risks if he wanted the win. And he delivered.

In a masterclass of tight turns and strategic speed, Jones and Capitale 6 stopped the clock in a blistering 36.57 seconds, slicing more than two seconds off Swail’s time and rocketing into the lead. Australia’s Hilary Scott and Oaks Milky Way posted the only other double-clear round of the day, finishing third in 39.24 seconds aboard her Paris 2024 Olympic Games hopeful.

This win marks a major career milestone for Jones, who earned his first Grand Prix victory in August 2024 at Del Mar Horse Park in a CSI2* with the same partner. Sunday’s victory not only raised the bar but firmly placed the Jones-Capitale 6 partnership among the top emerging duos on the international stage.

As the summer season heats up, this performance signals that Charlie Jones and “Pete” are a force to watch.
