Wednesday at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show belonged to Laura Chapot, who wasted no time asserting her dominance in the opening jumper classes. Riding Tyson Fury in the $10,000 1.30m Two Phase, Chapot guided the feisty 8-year-old mare to a clear, confident round, finishing in 26.39 seconds and leaving the rest of the field chasing her pace. Another of her mounts, Calafornia, crossed the timers in 27.14 seconds to take second, while Steven Bluman secured third aboard Cachemire De Braize.
Later in the evening, Chapot returned to the ring aboard C&C Willow, a 10-year-old mare she has carefully brought up through the levels. Their round was a masterclass in speed and precision, stopping the clock at 25.63 seconds to claim the $10,000 1.40m Two Phase victory. Carly Campbell Cooper and Katcha HD finished a close second at 26.24 seconds, with Evan Coluccio and Contario 8 rounding out the podium.
Chapot credits the foundation laid by Irish show jumper Christian Coyle for Willow’s polished performance, and the win sets a confident tone as the mare moves toward Thursday’s $30,000 1.40m Welcome and Saturday’s $100,000 Grand Prix de Grand National. With both her horses performing flawlessly under pressure, Chapot demonstrated not just skill but an uncanny ability to prepare and pace her mounts for success in multiple classes.
