Father-daughter jump-off: Sanne Thijssen wins the World Cup opener in Oslo

Victory with Cupcake Z, father Leon Thijssen placed 11th

October 20, 2025 at 2:45 PMBy s.wilhelm

The victory in the first Western European World Cup show jumping competition of the 2025/26 season in Oslo, Norway, went to Sanne Thijssen of the Netherlands. In the saddle of her 12-years-old Cupcake Z (Chacco-Blue x Nissan Caretano), she managed the fastest clear round of the 11 pairs competing in the jump-off. A special moment: Sanne's father Leon also qualified for the jump-off and ultimately finished 11th in the saddle on Hello (Ambler Gambler x Nabab de Reve).

Clear round, and clever tactics lead to success

In the round, the pair were the 17th starters to achieve the first clear round of the competition and thus qualify for the jump-off. There, the pair remained clear once again and, with a time of 38.28 seconds, came top of the 11 starters in the jump-off - almost 2 seconds behind Yuri Mansur and AH Alfons Santo Antonio, who came second. Third place remained in Norway with Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen and Equine America Harwich VDL.

The entire test can, of course, be viewed at any time in our ClipMyHorse.TV/ FEI.TV media library.
