Mumbai changes hands and goes into Mexican hands

New rider is Mariano Oñate de Cima

The Global Champions Tour winner Mumbai from the Beerbaum stable has been owned by the Mexican Mario Oñate since the end of October. The stallion is now being ridden by his 20-year-old son, Mariano Oñate de Cima.

Team silver at the 2021 European Championships

Mumbai, a 13-year-old gray stallion (Diamant de Semilly x Nabab de Reve), was victorious several times in 1.60 m Grand Prix competitions under Christian Kukuk. Highlights of his career included team silver at the 2021 European Championships in Riesenbeck and fourth place in the individual classification. In the same year, the pair also took part in the Olympic Games 2021 in Tokyo.

First successes

Mariano Oñate de Cima has been riding the experienced stallion since the end of July 2025. In October, the duo already placed successfully in a 1.40 m show jumping competition in Mexico.

According to the Haras de Clarbec stud farm, the stallion sadly passed away on October 29 at the age of 20.
