Kent Farrington Captures Third American Gold Cup Title with Greya

Tournament of Champions - American Gold Cup

The American Gold Cup once again found its way into the hands of Kent Farrington (USA), who added a third title to his name after a blazing performance with Greya on the final day of Traverse City Horse Shows.

A Course Fit for Champions

From the moment Alan Wade’s track unfolded, Farrington set the bar. First to produce a clear round, he went on to deliver the fastest jump-off time of the day — 34.75 seconds — securing both the trophy and a share of the $340,000 purse. The win also marked his sixth five-star grand prix victory in the past year, a feat he has only previously accomplished with his longtime partner Gazelle.

Irish Riders Round Out the Podium

Ireland’s Shane Sweetnam, eyeing his own Gold Cup hat trick, settled for runner-up honors with James Kann Cruz in 35.97 seconds. Fellow Irish rider Daniel Coyle completed the podium aboard Farrel, crossing the timers in 36.49 seconds.

Adding to the Legacy

For Farrington, the win adds another chapter to the legacy of the American Gold Cup, an event first awarded in 1970 and steeped in show jumping history. With Greya, a 10-year-old Oldenburg mare owned by Farrington, the world number one showed yet again why he continues to be the rider to beat on the international stage.
