Let your horse keep thinking forward even when exercises become difficult

Jean works with Claire to ensure that her horse should learn to think more forward. The horse first has to learn to accept her leg as a forward impulsion. After this they work on the development of the passage and piaffe, because the horse also needs to think forward in these exercises. Another key learning within this combination, is when we ask for forward and get canter, we go to shoulder-in to get them to come back to the gait you were working in. Since canter is difficult to sustain in shoulder-in which is why this can work.

Jean Bemelmans is a guest at the series of events “The Old Masters”. Bemelmans sees himself as a fan of the collection, but knows that it is difficult for many riders to imagine what a real collection or real expansion feels like. Often, according to the trainer, they only drive a little slower or faster with their horse but they forget the activity and the impulsion.
