Flatwork for show jumpers; improving balance and attention
Proper flatwork is the key to a successful jumping session. During the Media Day by Veredus four-time Olympian Ludo Philippaerts explains how he likes to include a lot of lateral movements during flat work, switching between bigger/smaller circles and straight lines to improve the horses balance, suppleness and attention. Another great way to prepare for jumping is to work on transitions. Smooth transitions are extremely helpful in creating attentive horses and ultimately help a lot when having to adjust strides later in the course.
Equestrian sports and family go hand in hand for Ludo Philippaerts, true to his family's motto “we live horses”. The belgian showjumper and four-time Olympian lives and breathes horses, devoting his life to showing and training horses and riders, working closely with his four sons.
