In order for muscles to grow, they need smart training and a good diet. Horses have approximately 520 muscles, which make up about 40% of their body weight. The number of muscles is genetically determined. This means that in muscle development, we can only change the size of the muscles. We spoke with agricultural scientist Dr. Patricia Sitzenstock about muscle building, and she reveals to us which nutrients are particularly important for muscle growth. What kind of feeding can I provide to ideally support my horse's muscle development?
