FEI Releases Eventing Zone Rankings
Boyd Martin Remains No. 1

The FEI has released eventing zone rankings for 2025, dividing the globe into seven regions.
The top five in North America
In North America, Boyd Martin continues to hold the number-one ranking.
Cosby Green moves up to the second spot from 13th in 2024. Will Coleman moved up to 3 from 5 in 2024. Caroline Pamukcu drops down one ranking to 4. Phillip Dutton is one spot higher, now 5. His daughter, Olivia Dutton, shot up in the rankings, now 23, up from 101.
Numbers six through10
The 6th ranking belongs to Jennie Brannigan, who dropped two spots. The highest-ranking Canadian is Jessica Phoenix at no. 7, up four spots from 2024. James Alliston rises to 7 from 17. Tamra Smith sits 9th in the rankings, up from 21. Lauren Nicholson drops to 10 from 7.
The zone rankings go to 406.
Some names are the same in zone rankings and world rankings
FEI eventing zone rankings come out annually, while FEI eventing world rankings are monthly.
Boyd Martin is 2nd in the world. Great Britain's Harry Meade is number one, both in the world and for his zone (North Western Europe). Laura Collett of Great Britain is 3rd in the world and 2nd in her zone.

Canadian Eventer Colleen Loach's 4* Ride Passes Away
Vermont, the 18.2-hand Hanoverian gelding ridden by Canadian eventer and Olympian Colleen Loach, has died at age 14. Loach campaigned Vermont - Van Helsing (Valentino) out of a Heraldik mare - to the CCI4* level. Canadian Peter Barry owned the tall chestnut. The cause of death was not publicly shared. Loach posted the news on her Facebook page on January 7.

USEA Reiterates Commitment to MARS Maryland 5 Star
USEA President Molly Pellegrini and CEO Rob Burk have issued a statement saying, "The U.S. Eventing Association (USEA) remains committed to the long-term success of the MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill."The statement points out that, as one of only seven such five-star competitions globally, it is a cornerstone of the sport and a significant economic driver for the region.
