Traditionally, show jumping is the final phase of eventing, testing the competitors’ fitness and skill following the endurance challenge of cross-country. Athletes must be in tune with their horse to produce a successful final phase and end the event on a high note.
About the Expert:
Mia Farley is an Eventing athlete based in Lexington, Ky. For the past ten years Mia has been part of the USEF Eventing Development Programs and has had many successes. 2019 was an especially strong year where she placed in the top 15 in eight of the 12 FEI competitions she entered. In 2023, Mia and Phelps, owned by David O'Connor, completed their first CCI5*-L with a top five finish at the Maryland 5 Star and were the only pair to complete the cross-country double clear. They followed up their 5* debut with a second double-clear at the 2024 Defender Kentucky Three Day Event CCI5*-L and a top 15 finish. To end the 2024 season, the pair completed the 2024 Defender Burghley Horse Trials CCI5*-L gaining valuable experience to lead them into 2025.
