A New Partnership on the Rise

A new partnership is already making waves in the desert. Though only four shows into their journey together, Stella Wasserman and Myla delivered a defining performance on Sunday, December 7th, capturing the $40,000 FarmVet 1.45m Open Classic at Desert International Horse Park.

A Technical Track Designed to Test

The 10-year-old Holsteiner mare has quickly proven she is an ideal match for Wasserman’s smooth, forward style. Their growing connection was on full display over the demanding track built by Alan Wade and Colm Quinn, which challenged scope, adjustability, and strategy. Out of 44 starters, only six combinations found their way into the jump-off—including the developing duo.

First Jump-Off, First Big Statement

Despite the class marking their first jump-off together, Wasserman rode with clarity and confidence. Guided by support from her trainer and fellow competitor McLain Ward, she committed early to taking a shot at the time.

Returning second-to-last, Wasserman and Myla delivered a jump-off round that showcased maturity beyond their short partnership. Their bold rhythm, effortless pace, and efficient turns carried them through the timers in 33.742 seconds, launching them straight to the lead—and securing the victory.

Rising Talent Highlights the Top Placings

Youth talent continued to shine throughout the podium.

Avery Griffin, just 18, finished second aboard Oh My Star van Strytem, clocking 34.673 seconds.

Karrie Rufer and Stern dei Folletti secured third.

Looking Ahead to Desert Holiday 2

With their first FEI-class victory now behind them, Wasserman and Myla look poised for an exciting season ahead. The pair will return for Desert Holiday 2, where their growing partnership will once again take center stage.
