Kama Godek and Charissa Dominate With Commanding Grand Prix Victory

Winter Classic 2 at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington

December 6, 2025 at 9:15 PMBy b.wehner

Winter Classic 2 at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington kicked off its first Grand Prix of the season in true festive fashion, as the Standlee Sanctuary—draped in sparkling holiday décor—welcomed a packed crowd for the $30,000 Grand Prix. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation, but by the end of the night, one combination rose decisively above the rest: Kama Godek and Charissa.

Charissa Sets the Standard in the Jump-Off

Godek’s longtime partner, the 14-year-old Holsteiner mare Charissa (Clarimo x Urmel VI), was sharp and seasoned from the moment she stepped into the ring. Ten horse-and-rider combinations advanced to the jump-off, but none could match the effortless rhythm and precision Godek produced. Charissa navigated the track with the confidence of a mare who has seen it all, stopping the clock in 34.72 seconds—a time that proved untouchable.

Sam Pegg Secures Second

Sam Pegg came closest in pursuit, returning aboard Casey H, Harlow Investment Enterprises LLC’s promising eight-year-old Holsteiner mare. Their well-executed effort earned second place with a time of 35.79 seconds, just over a second off Godek’s commanding pace.

Izzy Beisel Completes the Podium

Rounding out the podium was Izzy Beisel, who piloted her 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Contigo (Carombolle) to a smooth, forward round that secured third place in 36.975 seconds.

Winter Classic 2 Sets the Tone for the Season

With the first Grand Prix of the 2026 Winter in the Midwest Series now complete, the momentum is officially building at WEC – Wilmington. If this opening week is any indication, fans can expect a winter season packed with speed, strategy, and standout performances.
