Seventeen horse-and-rider combinations returned to the ring to close out the day in the $20,000 Golden Ocala 3’6”–3’9” Hunter Derby, where Daniel Geitner delivered a confident and composed performance to take the win aboard Lynn Seithel’s Walk The Moon.
The longtime partnership was evident from the opening round, as Geitner and Walk The Moon produced a smooth, stylish hunt round that earned a leading score of 91. Their consistency and harmony carried through to the handy round, where the pair once again impressed the judging panel with their accuracy and efficiency, matching their first-round score of 91.
With a two-round total of 182, Geitner secured top honors in a competitive field, solidifying his place at the top of the leaderboard.
The victory marked a particularly meaningful moment for Geitner, whose time in the winner’s circle extended beyond the derby triumph. In addition to claiming victory, he also clinched the ACE Equestrian Style of Riding Award.
