The 10th Edition of the Southern German Stallion Days
The time has come again: At the end of January, the horse world will meet again at the Olympic Equestrian Facilities in Munich-Riem for the joint Stallion Licensing of the Southern German horse breeding associations. The best three- and four-year-old stallions will be inspected and evaluated during three days.
The event starts on Thursday with the presentation on hard soil. Free running will follow in the afternoon, and Friday will be reserved for the free jumping including announcement of the licensing results. Former competitors at the Stallion Licensing and successful sports horses will show up at the Gala Evening Show as of 8.00 pm, together with the young stallions that qualified for premium awards. The awarded stallions and all those available for sale will be presented on the lunge line on Saturday. The best of their age-group will be honoured afterwards, and the auction of those stallions offered for sale will start at 2.00 pm.
It is a huge program the 78 stallion prospects, chosen from 600 presented stallions, have to accomplish. Besides the quality criteria in regards to breeding and sports, they also successfully made it through tough examinations by the vet committee. The biggest quantity of offspring in the jubilee collection will be presented by Boston who was first standing with the Schwaiganger Main State Stud and then with Isabell Werth. Six progeny from his first crop of foals on the ground will compete in Munich! It is too bad that the impressively moving Jazz-son suddenly died in February 2012. He will be worthily represented in Munich by his sons.
In 2013, many former Stallion Licensing participants will be represented in Munich with their first offspring: The South German Winner of the 2009 Stallion Days, Sir Shiwago, will celebrate his stallion debut with three progeny. In 2012, the Sir Donnerhall I-son, standing with the Zweibrücken National State Stud, successfully competed in medium level dressage horse ability competitions under Ingrid Klimke. The finalist at the Federal Championships and Southern German Premium Stallion Colestus will also be represented by three of his sons. The Reserve Champion Delamanga, descending from Dr. Jackson/Heraldik xx, will send two sons from his first crop of foals. The winner of the show jumping evaluation, Con Spirit, is represented with one son out of a dam by the EC bronze medalist Asti Spumante. And the Masters Stallion and 2007 Champion of the Stallion Licensing, Don Diamond, will compete in Munich with two sons.
More highlights in the 2013 stallion collection are three sons by the Grand Prix-stallion Diamond Hit (Emma Hindle). The Quinar-son Quintender (Andreas Kreutzer) and Toulon (Hubert Bourdy) are represented with each one stallion prospect. The full brother to the stallion Califax also shows up in the 2013 collection. The top one percent sires of the current breed value estimation are also represented: Belissimo M (2 sons), Cassini I, Diamond Hit (3), Diarado (2), Don Diamond (2), Lord Loxley and Sir Donnerhall (2). The winner of the KWPN and the Danish Stallion Licensing, Zack, sends two sons to Munich.
The little jubilee of the Southern German horse breeding associations promises to be a top-class event. “We are looking forward to the 10th Stallion Days. The collection features interesting and promising stallion prospects. Maybe we will repeat the amazing sales success of last year,” manager Thomas Münch says.
