Foals on the loose at the Derby!
Holsteiner Foal Auction in Hamburg
What do Casall, Clearway, Catch, Del Arko and Million Dollar have in common? Well, this is an easy one: all these Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH stallions are represented by offspring at the foal auction held during the German Jumping Derby in Klein Flottbek.
After last year’s very successful debut of this foal auction on the traditional Derby ground, next week is to see the next instalment, with Dr. Günther Friemel to put eight very special Holsteiner foals to auction at the foot of the VIP marquee. Five colts and three fillies standing up to the selection committee’s critical eyes have made it into the catalogue. Four of them are by Caretino son Casall, the Holsteiner studbood’s flagship. The other four are by Clearway, Catch, Del Arko and Million Dollar. Each of this sires is in a class of his own. Casall is beyond all question. Clearway has made a name for himself for his numerous international sport horse offspring, the most well-known the licensed stallion Clarimo, which has attracted attention at international level under Swedish rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. Under the saddle of Niklas Krieg, Clearway daughter Carella not only became European Champion with the junior team but also caused a splash by winning the Leipzig Word Cup qualifier two years ago. So far, Clearway offspring have earned almost 1.3 million euros.
The young stallions Catch, Del Arko and Million Dollar have been standing out with very recent sport performances. Catch by Colman and Tsunami de Hus son Del Arko easily won their stallion sport tests, and now six-year-old Million Dollar by Plot Blue is a serial winner of young horse jumping classes. On Wednesday, 9 May and Thursday, 10 May, the stallions will demonstrate in front of a big crowd that not only their pedigrees but also the stallions themselves fit into the scenery of the German Jumping Derby in Klein Flottbek, as Catch, Del Arko and Million Dollar will be presented in Hamburg, next week’s destination on the international show jumping circuit. This presentation promises to be particularly interesting as the stallions will be shown under the saddle of international jumping riders – which ones is still kept secret. After the presentation on Thursday at 1.30 pm, you may get an impression of the rigorously selected auction foals before the auction starts at 5.30 pm.
If you are looking for a highly promising youngster, you should not miss out on the lots offered at auction in this special foal sale. The marketing team around Dr. Jörgen Köhlbrandt will be happy to provide you with advice.
