On the last weekend of October the time has come again: The Hannoveraner Verband opens its doors for stallion licensing and stallion sales. From Wednesday, October 24 to Friday, October 26, around 100 highly talented young stallions from the best bloodlines will be competing for the sought-after positive licensing decision in the Niedersachsenhalle. Licensed and non-licensed young talents will find new owners at the stallion sales on Saturday, October 27. The young stallions of the age-group 2016 are not only highly interesting as future sires. Quite a few international careers in sport started at the licensing.
Stallions from the Verden licensing have not only collected numerous ribbons in dressage, show jumping and eventing this year, they have above all collected medals. The World Championships for young dressage horses were a triumph for stallions from the Verden licensings in 2014 and 2015. In the competition for five-year-old stallions, Revolution by Rocky Lee/Rouletto under Andreas Helgstrand and Destacado by Desperados/Londonderry with Matthias Alexander Rath ensured a double victory. Both stallions left the Verden stallion sales in 2015 as premium stallions. One year earlier, D'Avie by Don Juan de Hus/Londonderry was one of the premium stallions of the Verden stallion sales. He also returned from Ermelo with the World Champion title, where he was masterly presented by Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez.
Also at the Bundeschampionat there was gold for stallions from Verden. So Unique by Sezuan/Donnerhall became undisputed Bundeschampion under Eva Möller and Despacito by Don Nobless/Sandro Hit won silver under Greta Heemsoth. Five stallions from the two past Verden stallion licensings qualified for the finals of the Riding Horse Championships. Heike Kemmer, member of the licensing commission is enthusiastic about this year's dressage lot. She is sure that quality and pedigrees will convince stallion owners and dressage riders.
Gentleman FRH by Grey Top/Fabriano and Sandra Auffarth did something that hadn't happened for a long time. They repeated last year's success in eventing and are now double Bundeschampions.
Among the show jumpers, Aga Khan Z by Acorado/Stakkato with Angelique Rüsen and Grand Stakkato by Graf Top/Stakkato with British rider Emma Stoker made it into international sport. Further advanced is Lord Fauntleroy by Lord Pezi/Contendro, who with Gilbert Böckmann contributed to the victory of the German team in the Nations Cup in Uggerhalne/Denmark. Hans-Henning von der Decken, Chairman of the Hanoverian Verband, emphasizes the jumping ability of the admitted jumping colts.
The 2018 licensing vintage is ready to follow on these outstanding successes in all disciplines.
Not only the announcement of the licensing decisions will be exciting, the stallion sales on Saturday will be exciting as well. The auction will be opened by a show programme. The proclamations of the "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 2018" and the "Hanoverian Mare of the Year 2018" are eagerly awaited. There will also be a reunion with numerous horses that had their first appearance in Verden when they were two and a half years old.
